PRAISE FOR BAND FESTIVAL The rattle of the drums, the FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR GLENDORA CITIZEN Earl Louis Lloyd of Glendora, died Saturday afternoon at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood after a long illness He was 81. Services were at 3 Sunday after-neon at the Glendora Methodist Church. Burial was in Woorilnwn Cemetery at Sumner. I Mr. Lloyd was born at Lexing- ton and had lived at Glendora 53 years.

He was a member of the G'endora Lions Club, and was a Methodist. He leaves a son, Sidney M. Lloyd of Greenwood; a stepson, J. R. Conner of Greenwood; half- orother, Aubrey Lloyd of Mem- Phis: and six grandchildren, 1 1 WILIlK LIONS 'PIIIR VI VCTC.

Dates for State Council, Juae 11- 13 at the Mississippi State University was announced. At the close of the meeting a so cial hour was enjoyed. MISS GEE AND MR. JUE TO MAIRRY JUNE 9 Oakhurst Baptist Church in darks-dale will be the setting June 9 for the marriage of Miss Edna Gee to Mr. Danny Jue.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Gee of Sumner and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jue oi Memphis.

The bride-elect graduated from West Tallahatchie High School and attended Mississippi College for Women where she was a member of Phi Beta Lambda and Trouba dour social club. Mr. Jue graduated from South side High School and will receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Memphis State University where he was pres'dent of Sigma Alpha Chi, Fraternal Military Order, and Secretary-treasurer of Student Alliliate of the American Chemical Society. Sunday afternoon for the formal dedication of the new Post Office at Sumner. Music for the dedication program was furnished by the West Tails. hatchie High School band, under the direction cf V. J. Stegall.

After the invocation hv Kev Rolfe Dorsey, pastor of the Baptist Church, Mj-s. Velma Camathan. postmaster, graciously welcomed patrons and guests. L. P.

Marshall, director of the Rotary Club whic'i sponsored the dedication, presented the master of ceremonies, C. Sidney Carlton. Mr Carlton, president of the Mississippi Sate Bar and an outstanding civic leader in tli community, gave the welcome ad-dres and recognized the guests: Mayor Lacey Biles, Alderman Roy Moyer, City Marshall, A. J. Downs, H.

E. Jordan, State President of the National Association of Post masters and others attending. The dedication address was by Hon. Walter C. St.

John, Chief Engineer of the Post Office Department, Memph's, Region, who designed the new building. His address dealt with history and statistics concerning the growth yf the Postal System from the beginning to the present, as to the amount of mail handled, number of employees and facilities. ttcr3 from Postmaster General J. Edward Day and John Snyder, President of the National Association of Postmasters were read and telegrams of congratulations from Senators James 0. Eastland, Jojin Stennis and Congressman Jamie L.

Whit-' ten. A Flag that had flown atop the United States Capitol was presented to Mrs. Carnathan in behalf of Postmaster General Day and Sena tor Stennis, who secured the Flag for the new Post Office. Following the "Ode To The Flag," eloquently- read by Mrs. Frank Cooper, Librarian, the inspir ational strains of The Star Spangled Banner were heard while the fifty star Flag was hoisted aloft by Hoy Scouts, Donnie Guest, David Guest, Ray Casburn and Larry Dean of Trocp No.

27. Thus an impressive dedication ceremony for tha new. Post Office at Sumner was brouglht to a climax. The Rev. James Price, pastor of the Webb-Sumner Methodist Church gave the benediction, after which guests were invited to have refresh ments and tour the new building, was beautifully decorated with flower and pot plants, gifts of friends and well-wishers.
